Equality? Really?

[This post was originally written on the 29th March 2014 on an old blog, but is probably even more relevant today.]

The world is looking for equality and worth, but these things can only be found in Christ. Equality does not mean you are able to do exactly the same things as the person next to you. How can it when from the offset we are all born uniquely individual? If not one person has been created the same since time began, how silly is it to try to gain equality through becoming the same?

Equality is about Whose you are. In Christ we are made one by His Spirit. In Christ His love reaches each person without limits. In Christ your worth is not based on how you look or what you do, but it is simply based on the fact that He loves you UNCONDITIONALLY. End of story.

Men and women will never be equal in the way that the world tries to pursue equality. Can a man give birth? No. Can a woman’s body produce life without the sperm? No, but she carries the life and gives birth to it. Both men and women need each other, and God created us that way so that none would esteem themselves as more superior or inferior.

But among the Lord’s people, women are not independent of men, and men are not independent of women. For although the first woman came from man, every other man was born from a woman, and everything comes from God. (1 Corinthians 11:11-12, NLT)

Our functions are different, just as your eyes and your nose are different. How silly would it be to say to your eyes, “I give you permission to smell.” Or to your nose, “I give you permission to see!” Both are needed, and both work together in their unique way for the purpose at hand.

God is the Creator of life and His order is for a reason. Just because the world tries to redefine creation do not be misled – Stand firm.

Do not fall into the trap of pursuing equality/worth outside of God’s order. That is the same trap that satan used at the beginning to fool the man and woman and cause them to sin (and eventually die). Both men and women are made in the image of God. We both have our different functions and roles, but it is together that we fulfil His original mandate to be fruitful and multiply. A woman cannot be a man and a man cannot be a woman.

Even if the law of the land changes, the law of our God is eternal. We live according to the law of His Spirit. So let us stand firm until the end.

For the law of the Spirit of life [which is] in Christ Jesus [the law of our new being] has freed me from the law of sin and of death. (Romans 8:2, AMP)
